A Doctor’s Appointment, A Blizzard and Gingerbread Men & Women!

Yesterday morning, Lauren was kind enough to wake me up at 5:15 a.m. with that excited little kid look in her eyes.

“It’s SNOWING!!!!!”  — she blurted.

I just grumbled and rolled over.

We had an appointment at the fertility doc at 7:45 a.m. and didn’t have to leave the house until 7:00 a.m. — so I had at least an hour left to snooze.

The snow that Lauren was so happily watching was actually a huge blizzard blowing into town. As we prepped for the doctor and bundled up, newscasters began reporting a snow fall prediction of 10 – 20″ (we ended up getting 17″ by the time it all ended!). We knew that we had to get in the car, to the doctors and home as fast as possible.

So… we headed out down the highway to the doctor. I tried to bundle up as much as possible to keep my body temperature up and make sure there was a happy warm place for our potential baby. Here’s a nice shot of me all bundled up — 4 shirts, 2 scarves, 2 pairs of socks, 2 pairs of pants, a pair of gloves and my jacket.

Here’s a shot of the road. It was awful. Hardly plowed at all.

I’m glad Lauren played a lot of car racing games while she was in Australia, because she handled the snow like a champ! We watched countless cars spin out and wreck behind us and she just kept on driving.

So we got to the doctor’s office right on time to have some more bloodwork taken and get another ultrasound. I have one follicle that is 14mm, so it is not quite ready but well on it’s way. There are a few others that look promising and need to grow some too. Looks like we are well on our way.  The bloodwork came back also and it was perfect. The staff is very pleased and excited.

Our plan now is to go to the doc on Monday morning at 7:30 a.m. for more bloodwork and another ultrasound. They think that after this appointment we will be able to do the trigger shot to induce ovulation and then will inseminate soon after. Probably Tuesday and Wednesday! Wow! So exciting. What a fun way to celebrate Christmas.

After we got home, settled and took a nap, our neighbor, her sisters and her daughter came over. We baked a ham, homemade mac & cheese and a billion gingerbread men & women cookies! Her daughter ate most of the icing and sprinkles while we cut the shapes and decorated.

Here are some of our lovely designs! 🙂

Today we are staying in, cooking and enjoying this snow day — while keeping Casey out of the snow!
